JOBS & ConTACT
Come join us!
The Pai Lab is part of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, a world-class research institute working on all aspects of cancer research, including basic research, pre-clinical and clinical trial funding, clinical diagnostics, and drug discovery. We are located in the heart of downtown Toronto, surrounded by research hospitals and close to the University of Toronto St. George campus. Toronto is a thriving multicultural city with a lively arts and culinary scene, and excellent transit system for mobility.
The Pai lab often has open positions for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff scientists. Due to time constraints, only suitable candidates will be contacted. However, we do look at all emails.
Please see below for details.
THE SCIENCE STUFF
Are you interested in the same things as we are? These are our areas of interest:
Genomics and epigenomic bioinformatic analysis of pediatric and adult brain tumours, basic biology & translational
Using patient-derived cell lines, iPSC-derived organoids to model brain cancer
Using genetic perturbation and pharmacological screens to discover novel biomarkers or therapies
Epigenetic determinants of disease (germline, environment, cancer) & role of active DNA demethylation
Analysis of population genomics databases for pre-diagnostic, diagnostic or prognostic biomarker discovery using genetic or methylomic data (UK Biobank, CanPath)
Discovering pre-diagnostic biomarkers in patient plasma or neurodegenerative disorders
Multi-modal data integration to predict patient outcome, only if YOU propose a suitable dataset (>200 patients, non-heterogenous phenotype).
Please note: We are currently not accepting positions for machine learning algorithm development. This may change in the future.
Summer internships for undergraduate trainees
Our students come from the University of Toronto Medical Biophysics department. If you are an undergraduate interested in a summer internship, please apply to the Medical Biophysics summer program. In your cover letter and lab choice, indicate the Pai Lab, and please contact Dr. Pai to mention that you have applied and are interested in the lab.
Graduate research positions (M.Sc., Ph.D.)
If you are interested in graduate research in our lab, apply to the University of Toronto Medical Biophysics graduate program. We can only accept graduate students through this program. In the application and in your CV, indicate an interest in the Pai lab. Be sure to mention why you are interested in joining our team!
Post-doctoral fellowships
If you are interested in post-doctoral fellowships in our lab, please e-mail Dr. Shraddha Pai, enclosing your CV and a cover letter outlining your research interest and what makes us a good fit for each other.
